Xbox 360 Power Adapter 203 Watt Questions

How much power does a 12v. fan consume each at .13A?

I’m modifying my xbox 360 by adding additional fans into the 360. The current stock fans (2 fans) run at 9v. but is rated for 12VDC. I’m going to add two more 12v. fans. I have found different 12v. sources on the motherboard.

My ideas are:
A. solder all 4 fans to the 12v. source for the DVD drive
B. solder all 4 fans to the power supply plug on the motherboard.
C. power by installing a open circuit jack for 2-conductor plugs and using a 12VDC/800mA adapter

The Xbox 360 power supply provides 203 watts, and 12v DC current at 16.5 amps, and 5v DC at 1 Amp.

Would the four fans combine take too much power away from the 360? Please let me know what might happen if I choose A or B. Thanks!

P – Power.
V – Voltage.
I – Current.

P = VI
P = (12)(0∙13)
P = 1∙56 Watts.

If all four fans are soldered from the same power source, then the incoming current will divide between the four fans, and this will reduce the power to your fans. The power may be insufficient to run the fans.

(B). It’s unclear what you are doing with option B. The incoming supply (voltage) to the computer will be to high for the fans and will burn them out. Be sure where the power is taken from is down to 12 volts.

You could try powering two fans each for each source.
