Xbox 8gb Flash Drive Questions
6GB Movie, won’t fit on 8GB Flash Drive. Any advice?
I just bought this 8GB Flash drive to put a movie on it to watch it on my xbox, because the DVD doesn’t work anymore. I converted the video and it works perfectly. The video is like a few other movies that work just fine on the drive. But they are around 3GB, and this one somehow came out 6GB.
Whatever I do, it says the file is too large to fit. It plays the other movies just fine, but for some reason.. Not this one. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
This is a weird problem, but I know exactly what is going on. Most flash drives use a file system that is known as FAT32, which the maximum file size is 4 GB. (File Systems are confusing, Probably best to not even try to understand them) Your computer, on the other hand, uses NTFS, which has a crazy huge maximum file size (idk how big it is but I know it is huge). You can put it on your flash drive by reformatting your flash drive to NTFS ( http://www.ehow.com/how_2006214_format-flash-drive.html This guide will help, just make sure you select NTFS). Just know that this will delete ALL of your data on the flash drive when you do this. I would recommend backing up all of your data on the flash drive onto your computer, then formatting it, putting it the movie onto your xbox, then formatting the drive BACK to FAT32, and finally putting all of your data back onto the flash drive.
